There are reports / rumors / speculations that there are plans to start a new ferry-route soon with 6 dep./week and with 1 or 2 ferries with ca. 350 cabins from Cork to Boulogne.
Pushed by former people from DFDS-Ireland and a number of truck-companies / hauliers which not longer want to pay the most highest galactic super-expensive freight-rates and ticket-prices in Europe to all the actually ferry-companies operating to Ireland. Until now all trucks are helping only that the owners / shareholders from the ferry-companies to make highest profits with this booming travel- and freight-corridor between Ireland and France. In other areas in Europe only 10, 15 or 20% of the France-Ireland (and Irish Sea) prices are to pay per sea-mile !
So f.ex. if only 10 truck-companies would give each 2 Mio. they could start self this new route Cork-Boulogne with 1 used very big ferry similar-type as the Stena Vision.
The ports are very well, Cork is THE booming city in Ireland and also all tourists in cars, motor-homes and tourist-coaches want to the West-Coast, Ring of Kerry etc. . Boulogne is the best port in Europe for to/from Ireland, they want urgent any new ferry-connection and the motorway to Belgium, Netherlands and Germany is free (no toll-fee to pay). Furthermore it is not so far away as Dunkerque so a 22-hours travel-time + 2 hours loading time daily is easy possible for to get a simply attractive timetable. And the customers would save a lot of hours on the roads in France from Cherbourg - inclusive high toll-road-fees and extra fuel-costs from Cherbourg to Boulogne.
Used big ferries with a few hundred cabins are a number cheap available also short-term,

One thing with the published sales-prices: These are always "price-ideas" only - later the real "going over the table price" is CIRCA 30% lower usually.
So the ex-Stena Baltica would costs 17-18 Mio. only in fact (and not the published 25).
Would be no problem to buy her if 10 truck-companies would give 2 Mio. each.
GNV has got in the last weeks 2 big other ferries from MOBY and they will get soon 4 brand-new big ferries from next winter / in next year. So in fact are CIRCA 6 old GNV ferries for sale:

Ferry number 7 would be the 1987 built GNV ALLEGRA (ex Irish Ferries 1st Oscar Wilde) if GNV want replace all old ferries from the 80ies.
If the actually condition of these ferries is still ok i would choose in case of Hibernia Line the ATLAS and the CRISTAL - in my opinion better than the other 4. Most cabins (423 !), youngest both of these 7 ferries, made in Germany, minimal faster than the other (21 - 21,5 knots), a lot of big public spaces = easy to rebuilt one restaurant f.ex. into a Pullman-seat lounge for to use in summer the max. car-capacity of 538/575. A fast route-start now with 1 ship would be still possible in this summer - and then in spring 2025 come with the 2nd sister-ferry for to offer daily (6 x weekly) departures in both directions.
